Songspell Foundation Inc. is an institution of committed families dedicated to the musical, moral and spriritual formation of children and youth through honing of their musical and theatrical potentials, serving as ambassadors fo foodwill, peace and unity.
The Songspell Foundation Inc., was formed in May 1996 out of the desire of some children aged 4-18, who loved to sing and dance. Musical director, Ms. Nelly D. Castro, perceived that much can be harnessed from the youngsters' God-given talent. They started with two kids who inspired parents to have their own children be trained in performing as well.
Songspell started with 2 summer workshops revealing their immense potenetial in staging a musical production thus, a major production was launched. The success of the 1st concert staged gave way to many other huge productions. From then on, invitation for the Songspell to perform cam from allsectors fo society at various functions.
Finally, these talented and hardworking children found themselves as ambassadors of peace, unity, love and music when they were invited for their first ever concert tour outside the country in the year 2000. In spite of financial difficultis, people pooled their own resources to be able to help make the children's dream a reality. Songspell has finally gone international, giving Filipinos in the USA a tasete of home The joy brought by these children was evident in the standing ovations, the cheers and the tears from the audience. . They have again been invited to delight and inspire this time, not only Filipinos abroad but also Americans through the years 2002, 2004 and 2006. Upon returning home, these kids share their blessings through charity work like gift-giving and singing for the street kids of Balay Pasilungan. Songspell struggles to give children, especially those with very little resources, a chance of a lifetime to impart a piece of themselves to people through music. But as long as there are those willing to help and support the foundation, the dream of bringing peace and unity through song will live on. This gives the youth of today the message that dreams can turn into reality with enough hard work and discipline
